Hi all,

I have got some emails that made me understand that some general
information could be helpful.

If you unfortunately not know it, there will be an ARTS workshop June
9-11, on the same place as last time. When making the announcement, we
assumed that everybody has signed up for one of the arts mailing lists.
But later we understood that this is not the case, that some of you only
follow the qpack mailing list. However, when we realised this, we had
already reached the number of possible participants. That is, the
workshop is full.

I wanted to explain this, to make clear that it was not an active choice
by us (to not include the qpack mailing list). On the contrary, Qpack is
a main topic of the workshop. For the future, we will remember this, but
I also recommend that you sign up on the arts users mailing list.

We have started a waiting list, already including some names. You are of
course free to also sign up on the waiting list.

There have also been some questions around the versions. The stable
version of ARTS and Atmlab/Qpack is 2.0, and the development version is
2.1. Around the workshop we will "upgrade" v2.1 to be v2.2, that will
replace v2.0 as the stable version. That is, v2.2 will be the version to
be used after the workshop. It will be hard for us to provide support
for v2.0.

We have no plans for important changes of v2.1, and v2.2 should be more
or less identical. So, if you take the step from 2.0 to 2.1 now, there
should be minimal extra work to take the step to v2.2 (hopefully just to
check out from scratch and recompile). Note that you need to combine the
same versions of ARTS and Atmlab (both v2.0 or 2.1).

Ideally, I should have made a list on the needed changes to move from
v2.0 to v2.1, but I have just not time to make such a list right now. If
anyone is taking the step from v2.0 t 2.1, please share your experience.
Ole Martin and I should be able to answer any questions quite quickly.

Bye,

Patrick
