qpdfview doesn't open a file when an empty search string is provided: "Using '--search' requires a search text." Some programs, in my case Recoll [1], specify a search text on a case-by-case basis, but the qpdfview command line remains the same. i.e., you'd have to choose between not searching on startup, or being able to open files in more scenarios. Not sure what the best course of action would be, hence the question.
