Hi folks When I was going through this year Apache SoC idea list I came upon one idea of Qpid which got me very excited; The idea is to create a demo using Apache Qpid across all supported languages which you can see here http://wiki.apache.org/general/SummerOfCode2008#qpid-demo**. I'm specially interested in this idea because I'm comfortable with all languages mentioned and it would be fun if I get a chance to work on this idea to make it implemented.
Btw, a bit about me, I'm Laknath, a 3rd year undergraduate student of University of Moratuwa and a returning SoC student from last year in which I worked for Gnome to create a new WYSIWYG editor in Python ( http://code.google.com/soc/2007/gnome/appinfo.html?csaid=80FB0FA809768E72) and completed my project successfully. I'm also a FOSS enthusiast and have been working with Java for more than 5 years. Now I'm working at Vesess ( http://www.vesess.com) as a web developer while doing my course and enjoying hacking. Before coming to FOSS world ;) I worked with .NET and I guess that will also help the cause. Ruby is something I'm still working at but I already love the language and frameworks** written using it. Back to the project idea, I already contacted Rajith ( http://rajith.2rlabs.com) who is the suggested mentor for this project idea and he advised me to acknowledge the dev list and start from there. Also he has provided me with some current works the community has done which helped me to understand the current status of the project. So I'm expecting to work on this during SoC period and hopefully beyond that and would be glad to have any suggestion you may have. Thank you. Cheers, Laknath -- http://luckycala.wordpress.com
