Hello:
Since a few days ago we are having some problems wiht qpopper log file. We are running two different systems with different versions of qpopper and having the same problem in both. I am (nearby) sure this problem is new and had not happend before in our systems.
The problem is in the log file appears lines like this:
Jan 10 13:09:26 galileo /usr/local/bin/popper[27540]: [ID 702911 local1.notice] (null
) at xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt (xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt): -ERR Too many arguments supplied.
Jan 10 13:09:26 galileo /usr/local/bin/popper[27540]: [ID 702911 local1.notice] (null
) at xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt (xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt): -ERR Unknown command: "-err".
where xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt is the IP of the client user, and then thousands (millions?) of messages like the last one.
The case is I realize of this maybe two hours after this starts, and then, the log file is realy big. At than momment, you can see e popper proccess started at the time the messsages started and if you kill the proccess the log file stops adding lines. Even the client IP xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt is not connected to Internet at that momment.
This has happened with several different IP. In other momments of the day connections from those IP (and logging) are normal.
Has anybody seen this problem before?
qpopper starts as: /usr/local/bin/popper -S -s -T600 -R and is running in a Solaris 8 box.
Any help is good as I have got the log system file at 100 % in last days.
Thanks.
