I use 5.5.3 on one of the boxes I develop on, just to try having everything at least compile there still. (But I only use the tcpserver qpsmtpd on that box).

I've steered clear of PPerl as I've seen it reported as "working for
some", which is not good enough for ~200K messages we get a day here. Is
PPerl success related to the perl version used?
