Nothing, in my mind. RFC2822 and RFC822 are both quite clear:

You'd think that should be enough, but I went round and round with HP
about their "scan to e-mail" feature on their high-end copier/printers
and they pretty much refused to fix it (so I directed the jobs to an
internal MTA which doesn't care).
