<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the qrplist gang
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey gang;

Actually, and I consider this sadly funny and typically "hammy", the
author of that particular note tried to convince us that there was a
problem with echolink's directions on how to bypass firewalls.

I read his directions and echolink's. There were no substantive
differences except the email's author chose to narrow down the firewall
bypass to one machine. His method of doing this was technically workable
but INCORRECT in that it used IP numbers on a Windows lan. Such numbering
may be subject to change. He should have used the "machine name" model for
this, as Windows networks do track the names and numbers properly BY NAME.

What I consider typically "hammy" is that this email author is giving out
bad advice and he never consider it to be subject to review or
interpretation.

Now I have my own pet theories as to why this happens in the ham radio
world, but can someone shed some light on this from your prospective?
