Jeff Davis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the qrplist gang
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I may just be terribly under informed, but I was reading the
September CQ magazine today at lunch and read about this proposal by
the "Communication Think Tank". Talk about your "next" crisis in ham
radio, this one makes the ARRL proposal for regulation by bandwidth
seem like a good thing.
Are you familiar with this proposal?
http://amfone.com/proposal1.htm
To summarize, a group of seasoned hams (who call themselves the
Communication Think Tank) did their own "statistically accurate"
survey where they used a spectrum analyzer over a 12 hour period to
determine the number of QSOs by mode on a given ham band. Since the
observed ratio of phone to CW QSOs was 421 phone to 241 CW (1.75:1)
the group concluded that there needs to be a lot more room in the
bands for phone operation and a lot less for CW.
More specifically, they would like there to be no band segments to be
apportioned for any specific modes.
Anyone spent any time looking in to this one?
