Misunderstanding. With "hover" I don't mean the tooltip-like popup that 
overlayed other text.

I mean do it similar to the new version for the sessions. Which shows only the 
"(i) v" button for the item that your mouse "hovers" over.
So, only show an "x" for the item that the mouse is over. Another example which 
does this is the "Open Documents" pane in edit mode.
