I'm working on a project that needs the c++/java binding feature of
Qt and Jambi. I've just completed building 32 bit Qt 4.4.3 and Qt
Jambi 4.4.3_01, and have the generator example working.
Our project has been planning on standardizing on 64 bit everything.
Is it an ongoing requirement that the c++/java generator use will
depend on 32 bit builds and special compiles of QT and Jambi?
Are there any new developments in this area that I've missed? If
possible, I'd like to be able to move on to a 64 bit environment.
Qt Jambi doesn't rely on any particular build of Qt, but we currently
lack support for the Cocoa API on Mac OS X, which prevents us from
supporting 64-bit on Mac OS X. For windows and linux there are already
64-bit binary packages available.

Thank you for that clarification, Gunnar.
Probably this all makes sense with more perspective, but when I could
not find the generator and generator example in the binary distrib of Qt
Jambi 4.4.3_01, I read here
http://www.qtsoftware.com/developer/changes/changes-4.4.0_01
that I had to use the source package of Jambi.
Also, in the page
http://doc.trolltech.com/qtjambi-4.4/html/com/trolltech/qt/qtjambi-installation.html#building-qt-for-qt-jambi
I read about using -D QT_JAMBI_BUILD -no-mmx -no-sse -no-sse2 -no-3dnow
as compile options, and here:
http://doc.trolltech.com/qtjambi-4.4/html/com/trolltech/qt/qtjambi-installation.html#platform-notes
I read about using 32 bit JVM to compile Jambi on 64 bit Linux.
These instructions are also in the install.html file that comes with the
Qt Jambi 4.4.3 source package.
So are you saying that all of the 32 bit stuff on 64 bit Linux is no
longer necessary?
And is it necessary or not to build Jambi from source in order to use it
for generating c++/java bindings?
Should I be able to just use the Qt and Jambi 64 bit binaries and be
able to generate the bindings?
Thank you very much. Qt is great software and we have a wonderful
application for it! I look forward to your reply.
