I ran across this problem as well, the problem comes from Java which keeps a list of hardcoded Window Managers, who knows why. It also makes impossible to use menus (the mouse click being ignored) To fix this problem you need to fool java about your true WM $> wmname compiz The wmname tool is available at http://tools.suckless.org/wmname This fixed the problem for me, and hopefully it'll works for you.
