I have tried to be more active on irc but I live in the opposite hemisphere so it gets difficult for me (+5 UTC) . Hence, I would prefer communicating on the mailing list if it's ok with you guys. I would be posting only on major developments, so as to not spam this mailing list. I have come up with a working solution for maintaining focus order after restarts, right now it works with layouts max and zoomy but I would be making it applicable to all layouts. I hope this solution <https://github.com/aniruddhkanojia/qtile/tree/GSOC_test> is in line with your chain of thought.
