You could autostart a script wich checks for a change in filesize every 10
oder 20 seconds or so. Everytime the script detects a change it will
trigger keystroke to restart qtile.
I've attached a script that'll just do that. Change your path in that
script and make sure it's executed via autostart. It's the beautiful way
though having a script running all the time for every now and then.

You could also use nitrogen or something else to be able to change you
background 'on the fly'
