Hi all,
Have you all heard of those "pocket bikes" they look just like
motorcycles, but a tiny, supposedly for kids.? Apparently, since
they're so new, there aren't laws regulating the age and use of them.
ANyway, a kid on our block has one and I kid you not, he's been riding
it up and down our street (about 6 blocks)for THREE days straight. He
starts at 11am and finishes after dark, I suppose he takes a pee and
dinner break too. Sometimes one of his buddies gets a ride, but it's
usually him passing my house. He has NO helmet and the scooter make s
VERY annoying buzz as it passes. I called the police, who are at the
end of the street and now he has one of those helmets that looks like
an old army helmet, and for a while he rode on the side of the road.
Mostly, he rides in the middle of the street. THis thing goes at least
30mph.
I want to...
well that wouldn't be nice for me to say, he's just a kid. I'm sure he
has no parental supervision. He's the neighborhood bully too. I saw a
report on these yesterday and you absolutely CANNOT see them if you're
in an SUV, or van. Good Housekkeping strongly warns against their use.
In defense of the kid, I guess if I were his age I would think this is
just "the bomb".
This has my menopausal raging hormones seething. It's beautiful out
and it would be nice to be able to open the front door without this
annoying noise.
After working with survivors of brain injury and seeing what a BIKE
accident will do to a kid's brain, I really hate seeing these things
becoming so popular.
Peace out,
Riv
