Hi,

THanks for the input everyone. I went to the local wheelchair store ;-) and tried MANY chairs, thanks to the great guy who tirelessly transferred me. My favorite so far is the Invacare Jazzy, don't remember the model. It's the one from last year, not the brand new one. One big problem is my van. This particular chair sits too tall for my van, which isn't a drop floor and doesn't have a high top. Soooo, he's looking for another model, or to see if he can get the lowered seat version. The newest Jazzy won't work as I can't get into the van with it. Second choice is the new quickie 6??. He says the wheelbase isn't as sturdy as the Jazzy. Also he feels the Quickie power chairs suck, BUT this is the newer model and he has no service experience with it. I prefer to get a chair that this place knows how to repair. Also I guess MEdicare won't buy a new one unless this one is DEAD. So I need something that will last.

It was great fun zooming around in those ;-)

Hey River,
Your best bet for getting the right power chair is to try them all outfirst hand.

Hi all,

As some of you may know, I'm a T-4 para and have rheumatoid arthritis.
I've been in the chair (manual) for 18 yrs. and had the dx of RA for
three. My Dr. says it's time I get a power chair. Sooooooo....I need
some advice:

I have a lift that has a weight limit as it folds in half when in the
van. I think it's 300-350 limit. Maybe 400lbs.

I need to be able to go up at least 3in thresholds. I don't need much
more than that. But I of course would LOVE to have a seat that
elevates. But I don't think Medicare considers that a medical
necessity ;-)

Anyway...could I get some advice? As far as manuals I love quickie,
but know absolutely nothing about power chairs.

Help ?

TIA,
River
