On a side note while watching one of the news stations over the weekend I spied a story on those injured in Iraq. Military soldiers, Combat soldiers. Soldiers on duty and while performing their duty and being injured permanently. According to information being supplied by the current administration, about 1950 soldiers have been killed in Iraq and about 9700 have been injured. Then this network station interviewed several soldiers who were injured while performing their duties and were permanently injured but not counted as combat injuries and did not qualify for a purple heart. These very soldiers gave their all and came back on stretchers, in wheelchair and vent users who were not counted as injured in combat. Some of these injuries consisted of being injured while driving a fuel or supply truck over a land mine. Others were in military vehicles and shot at, and injured. The news network said that the number of injured is closer to 19,000 than 9,000 being reported. Those interviewed were Marines, Air Force, Army, National Guard and Reserve soldiers. No purple heart or considered injured in combat. Geez, that is not fair. Did anyone else see this news feature?
