I'm originally from a small town in upstate NY (Apalachin) right near (literally ten minutes) the PA border.

I lived there all my life until at age 35 (I'm 40 now) my husband's job closed down but relocated its employees.  We chose Va (DC Metro area - Arlington and Oakton, Va) because it was near family.  The job was great but health care was next to IMPOSSIBLE to get.  Hubby finished up his year contract while we looked to get the hell out of there.

Raytheon here in Tucson hired him here and relocated us ALL EXPENSES PAID.  Only to lay him off 8 months later!  Tired of moving ... we've stayed here.  This will be our 5th summer.  Last summer was the first summer that didn't go above 104.

Now we want a home of our own (too expensive to buy here now) so we're looking to move for that and other reasons.  But hopefully not where the weather is drastically hot or vice versa.

The southwest has hit all time highs the last couple days!  Even Santa Fe, NM (which sits at 7000 feet) was 90 on Friday.

Tucson sits at about 2000 feet and we OFFICIALLY hit 100 on Friday.  We're a bit premature.  It's usually June 1st for 100 temps.

Today is the hottest - 109!  But only 13% humidity :-)    It FEELS hotter in, say, Va or N.C. at 88 degrees because of bloody humidity.  So in this dry climate I prefer it at least 65-70.  85-90 is perfect for me.  Warm  days but tolerable and balmy evenings!

I remember traveling cross-country from Va to get here (6 days by car) in May of 2001.  I was cold until we got to AZ and we arrived on June 2nd with the temp being 107.  I got out & said yeah!  All my tense muscles relaxed.

It's finally in the 70's.  Warm enough for me to just sit and catch some
raymonds.  Of course tomorrow's high is supposed to be 58.  At least I
have today though.
