Hi QP,

So true!  Just wait until your children start bringing grand-kids over and see how great THAT feels.  :)

Hi Lana,

Welcome back!  Does Gabe's BP just go up when he is setting up?  If so you might want to check the tubing to his leg-bag for any kinks.  It may be that his urine flow is being cut down when he is up, and that would cause his BP to go up.

I agree with your words.  We all need to celebrate our victories more and wallow in our losses less.  Maybe if you stay and post you will join us in our celebration of our diversities of life.

Hello again,

My name is Lana and my son Gabe is 32 and has a C4-5 SCI, 10 yrs post. He also has other disabilities. He cannot participate right now. Question: Gabe’s BP goes up in the afternoon around 3:00 everyday. When he lies down it goes right back down. So it appears to be AD to me. He developed a really bad pressure sore in the hospital last summer, but it healed nicely. It is still pink. Is there anything else you guys think it could be? It’s not a UTI. I’m wondering if he has another kidney stone or another syrynx (sp). The timing and positional nature screams pressure sore, but it’s healed. Help!

I just joined again. I have been a member off and on for a number of years. Why all the discussion about issues that do not have anything to do with SCI, disability issues and quality of life? Don’t we really need to discuss advocacy, legislation, life style issues, the slow death of the ADA and celebrate each others wins. Like being a grandpa!! God there is so much to discuss to make life better. We need to address disability discrimination not other types of discrimination.

I used to come here and there were real conversations about these issues. One of my favorite posts was from a person who managed to ride on a motor cycle. She described it in some detail. It inspired me and I’m sure many to do and be more. Break the rules – screw the boundaries. The support and advice I received after my son’s injury kept me sane and in turn kept him sane.

I’m involved in systems advocacy at a State and Federal level. There is so much to do, learn and be. We have so much to do for ourselves, loved ones and each other. Can’t we please give the discrimination of others with different colors of skin alone. Don’t drive off people who are assets here. If you need to discuss these issues go to sites that specialize in it.
