I had a bad bout of bronchitis (on nebulizer) in 1998. All I needed was a
knowledgeable person to assist me with the quad cough and could
find no one.
So it took a couple weeks to cough up the gunk that gurgled there
day after day. One day I somehow coughed hard enough and my
episode was over. Geesch!
Two yrs prior (after moving into an asst living facility full of q-tips)
I got it too. A trip to the ER (after a week's struggle) a nurse
there KNEW EXACTLY how to push it out of me. She moved so
I lost or never really knew her but she saved my ass that time!
Those were my only 2 boutys in 26 yrs. Never again I hope!

I'm having my annual bronchitis bout now. I use a Devilbis nebulizer
aerosol machine which delivers Ambuteral or Proventil directly by mouth. I
also use the steroid Advair (inhaler) to avoid phlegm buildup in the lungs.
Levaquin ABs are taken when it gets real bad.
Coughing is problematic for us, cause we only have the diaphragm to push
stuff out. I'm c5, so I get most of it on my own. You can have someone help
by pushing on your diaphragm as you are coughing. This helps me when I'm
prone.
Careful not to get pneumonia, it's a quad killer.
