Hi Ray,

No good news anymore as Dave K. & I have posted here.  Did you miss the posts on Medi-gaps between us?

Medi-gaps ARE MediCARE supplemental insurance policies.  I got on one (had to for just in case!) soon after getting
on MediCARE in 1997.  There were 7 plans to choose from there.  I chose Mutual of Omaha and I can't recall my premiums
but they were affordable and I needed it.

After moving to AZ in 2001 my premiums kept increasing exponentialy.  To the point I could no longer afford it!

What's worse is that AZ has ONLY one Medi-gap for beneficiaries under 65 and it costs like $4000 a yr and
doesn't cover squat.  Since I NEED that 20% coverage we were/are considering moving to a state that offers
several (competition).

On the www.medicare.gov site it says that TX has several for those under 65 but Dave K. lives in TX and
at age 55 says he couldn't find one.

I KNOW one is screwed if one needs a medi-gap in AZ.  I still need to call individual companies in other states
to see "the story" they all offer or don't.

I'd choose a Medicare Advantage plan if I didn't need home health care.  The Advantage programs SAY they
cover home health JUST LIKE TRADITIONAL MEDICARE that I have now TO GET YOU TO SIGN UP.  THEN
it's a different story!  I've had 3 reps in my home to check it out.  They are really Medicare HMOs and they suck!

No good news in this state Ray.  I even wrote Kolbe that this was discrimination only to get a platitude letter
back.

The government is NOT here to help ya anymore.  Unless you're at the poverty level ... then ya get Medicaid.

I didn't go to college and marry to be a welfare recipient.  Then you owe Big Bother all you have.  They
control what you can have in funds and so on.  George Orwell was a prophet!

Hi everyone just a quick note in regards to the folks on this list that purschased there own insurance policies. I am looking into getting a supplment coverage plan to my medicare, i'd like to keep it around 375.00- 475.00 a month does that sound reasonable and if not could you tell me around what amount you all are paying so I can put it in the budget thank you in advance Ray c-5 c-6 4 1/2 post Arizona
I think you are putting the cart..... before the horse.  You can get alot of faulty
coverage for 375-475 a month, these days.

Best to start with coverage limits first, before you expose your wallet.

Best Wishes
