I would bet my last dollar that your insurance company and/or Medicare (whichever applicable) will pay for the lift if you can get your doctor to write a prescription for it.  Having a prescription overcomes many obstacles when trying to obtain durable medical equipment (DME).

I use a Sure Hands electric hoist because I'm too big for one person to handle.
