I have pretty low potassium all of the time, but it doesn't require supplements. It's right on the borderline.
The reason mine has low is because I drink significant amounts of water. It keeps my sodium and potassium level lower than normal. Bananas do seem to help a little bit, but I am sure your doctor probably knows more than I do.
