Hi Stacy (and fellow Qs):
It's extra important to know this one often does look like it came from a
friend or family member. It uses their Address Book and sends it to you "From
them" using their real email address.
The best bet -IF- you get an e-Card from anybody, is to send them a quick note,
using your own Address Book; not a "Reply" within the Card, and ask if it
actually IS a real card sent from them!! If so, you're typically safe.
Extra Note: Several hoaxes have been passed on lately saying, "I checked on
Snopes. Here's the link," with th expectation you'll believe it was checked
rather than taking the time to check for yourself.
So, I *DID* check this "Postcard" one and it is NOT a hoax -- it's a real
Virus / Worm!
And finally, it should be noted that almost half of this message was email
addesses (I snipped 'em out). In the case of a real virus, worm, trojan, etc.
this is perfect fodder for harvesting even more addresses to attack. I try to
always remove all the "Fwd" addresses because of this PLUS it just keeps my
friend's/family's emails private -- just as they'd like them.
Best regards,
--Tod

clicking on a link in an email is like drinking from a paper bag covered bottle
from someone on the street. if he's your friend, ok; if you don't know him, he
probably just relieved himself into that bottle.
don't click unknown links.

for this virus!
I checked snopes.com, this morning, and it is for real!!
Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY
AND CONTACTS!
You should be alert during the next several weeks. Do not
open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,'
regardless of who sent it to you.
It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns'
the whole hard disc (C drive) of your computer. This virus
will be received from someone who has your e-mail address
in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to
send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive
this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.
If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent
to you by a friend, do not open it.! This includes all cards,
too. Shut down your computer immediately.
This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been
classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.
This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there
is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply
destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where your vital
information is kept.
COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS.
REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT
ALL OF US.
