Hi All, 26 years ago today I met Pete in a biker bar, we've been together ever since. Best dam day of my life. 10 years later we got married. Below is our story of how we met. I was 26, 9 years post, when I went into a local biker dive bar, rolling distance from my parents house, to see a childhood sweetheart (Frankie) start his first night as a bar tender at Hoover's Tavern. Pete 31, a golf caddy at the time, (because he had just lost his job) was giving a fellow caddy a ride home when his friend Sam wanted to stop for a cold beer. Pete and Sam were already there when I rolled up to the bar next to Sam, I introduced myself and Sam bought me a beer. For the next few hours I spoke to Frankie and Sam not to Pete because Pete was terribly shy. It was decided that at the end of that week I would meet Sam & Pete to go and play poker, something I had no idea of how to play but really wanted to learn. A few days after I had met them I got a bad UTI and needed to be hospitalized, when I was receiving an IV drip it dawned on me, "...darn I told those guys that I would meet them, oh well I guess I'm not going to make it." At the end of the week when I didn't show up Sam said to Pete "She stood us up, I knew she wasn't coming" Pete said to Sam "No, I think something is wrong, she really wanted to meet us I'm concerned." The two sat and discussed their trip they had been planing to go to Florida to caddy for the winter. Pete told me that he started to look for me in different places I had mentioned when I was talking to Sam. He remembered I was taking class's at a local County College so he went there to see if he could find me to see if I was OK. After a week he decided to back to Hoover's Tavern to see my friend Frankie, he gave his phone number to him to give to me. In the mean time Pete and Sam were still caddying and Sam said to Pete "Your still thinking about that girl Bobbie aren't you? Were not going to Florida are we?" Pete said "No, I have to find her." About two days later I ran into Frankie at a grocery store and he gave me Pete's phone number and said "If this was Sam's number I wouldn't be giving it to you, but Pete is a good guy. Somebody has to look out for you" I went home immediately to call this guy Pete to see what he wanted. This had never happened to me before. I never waited for men to ask me out, I would just ask them out myself. i called and Pete came on the phone, this was about 5:00 on a Monday and the conversation went something like this; "Hi, this is Pete" "Hi Pete Frankie from Hoover's Tavern gave me your number, he said you wanted me to call you. What do you want?" I was so excited I couldn't wait to find out why he wanted me to call. "Well, I wanted to see if you would like to go out with me?" "When?" I said. "Well, how about Wednesday?" "Why not tonight at Smiles 8:00 OK?" I figured why wait. Pete said OK. I went to Smile's right away to get something to eat and a drink and see some friends. It's a bar and a band is there after 9:00. At around 8:00 I got myself a table alone with my back facing the door because I realized 'i don't even remember what this guy Pete looks like because I was talking to Sam at night.' I figured Pete would see the power chair and know who I was'. A voice said to me "Hi Bobbie, my name is Pete" and he sat down. I fell right then and there for him, he was so handsome, Pete said he fell for me at Hoover's Taverner I was also shocked when Pete asked me to dance, slow and fast. We closed the place at 2:00am and Pete came the very next day to meet my parents who were very relieved to meet a kind, nice decent man instead of the sleaze balls I was usually bringing home. 10 years later we married in my parents back yard on October 3rd 1992 So, that's our story of how we met. Bobbie
