Did one of these guys die from a sore? That's pretty disconcerting, considering
I have a wound back in place and have to be in my wheelchair six out of the
next nine days.

Mark was a very cool guy, and will be greatly missed!
I would give Matrk static about being a Arkansas Razorbacks fan, and he would
give it back to me about being a Hawkeye fan. And he loved to attend gigs his
late brother performed at; Marks brother was a musician, if memory serves me
correctly the band played just good ol' rock-n'-roll.
I will miss you RollinOn QuadPirate!

Pressure sores are a great health risk for us; prevention is our best tool,
thoroughly looking your body over for any changes should be a common practice.
We (myself, my nurse and or wife) check my pressure areas in the morning (and
apply bag balm) then again in the afternoon (and bag balm), and at night we do
a skin check with no bag balm. I never looked at my skin before 2001 (broke my
neck in' 88); but now after the wound in 2001 that turned into osteomyelitis
and about killed me, checking my skin is now a common practice.
We use a mirror that has normal view on one side and magnified on the other; I
am a freak about it now, so I look at every damn pimple that pops up.

I contacted his sister after I had not heard from him after writing several
times and checking his my space for activity.  I saw a note from his sister
that she missed him.  I so didn't want to believe that this could be true.  I
just knew it had to be wrong.  She told me he died on December 12.  They had
worked on him for an hour.  He was septic from what they think was decubitus
ulcer.  It was very unexpected.

I believe he is a great loss to the disability community.  He is really missed
by me and many others.  I could always write him if you had a question or just
right to say hi.  I so enjoyed the quad chats we used to have.  I'm sure many
of you remember when we met on Saturdays for quite some time that he started
up.  To me he was a fairly new injury compared to myself and he fought to get
out of the nursing home and get a full-time job in contracting.  I'm thinking
it was about seven years, but I could be wrong.  His boss built an accessible
house for him, which he shared with the list.  I'm sure the rest of the group
can add many more things about Mark..

Dave and Mark will both be sorely missed.  My love and prayers go out to both
families.
I was off the list for a while during that time, so I thought I had missed the
information..
