[QUAD-L] A camera question

Hi Everybody,
       I'm in the market to buy a GOOD digital camera not exceeding $225 
like the Nikon L 100 I need guidance and pointers - do's & don'ts. I can't 
handle the skinny, skinny digital light cameras. I'm thinking of mounting the 
camera on a trek tech OPTERA 460 pro
