I agree that the forms are pretty much standard, but make sure that if they're going to do a cystoscopy on you that they give you a prophylactic antibiotic in order to prevent a possible infection during the procedure. As your doctor has said, people with suprapubic catheters always have some sort of bacteria in their bladder.
I haven't had a cystoscopy in three years now, but I really think I probably need one now. I was experiencing some signs of stones: foul smelling urine, clogged catheter, sediment in the urine, and even an increase in UTIs. Last month I had to go in to see a doctor on a walk-in basis (I know that's a stupid name for SCI clinic) and after explaining what was going on to the doctor she ordered a sonogram of my bladder and kidneys to see if this was the cause of the problem. There was a minor stone in the left kidney, which has been there for at least five or six years now, and no stones showed up in the bladder. The reason I think I need a cystoscopy is because I am consistently having a burning sensation in my bladder, headaches, and high blood pressure when I have always had a problem with low blood pressure. The worst part for me is I wake up with high blood pressure 150/95 and then by the time I do my breathing treatment and get into my chair my BP drops to 80/40 something. It's really fatiguing and aggravating. I do have an appointment with my primary physician on Friday and I'm going to be taking all of my blood pressure readings in with me in discussing the problems. I wish I could say everything is my bladder, but I am having serious bowel problems on top of all these issues. The bowels could be causing the blood pressure spikes, but I don't know how are going to get to the bottom of this. I hope this makes some sort of sense, my head is hurting a bit today, so I'm not able to concentrate as well as I would like.
