I found these directions for Vista 64 bit. Install Microsoft Intellipoint.

spx

I'm using Intellimouse as the Device. (The Optical in the directions did not
work for me.)

Download the software from

http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm

Follow directions below for button assignments.

Sorry 4 any confusion.

Works on w7 laptop and desktop units. Can't find ANY Trackball like Expert
that works for me.

C5.

Where did you go to set x-mouse driver?

Their webpage says that this software is not a driver.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate. Did you choose Intellimouse as your
input device in the x-mouse driver setup? I program my buttons as follows:

Left Click {do not intercept}

Right Click {do not intercept}

Top Left {Left Click Hold Drag}

Top Right {double Click}

Scroll Wheel {Scoll Down Clockwise}

The only chink is pressing the left mouse boutton to long makes it act like
dragging, otherwise, works fine.

Try x-mouse driver with kensington expert mouse. Works with windows 7 and
vista.(32 and 64 bit settings

 Assign buttons the same way by using Intelimouse settings.

See:

kensington expert mouse with 4 buttons

but they do not have software for vista or windows 7.--yet

you can still use it for left & right click but it will not let you program
the other 2 buttons which I use for double click and drag
