I lost a good friend under similar circumstances about six years ago. He got stuck in gravel in his backyard and the more he tried, the deeper his powerchair buried itself in the gravel. The big difference in these stories is that this one took place in Phoenix in July, when the temperature was well over 100 degrees. John didn't have his cell phone with him, so by the time his fiance found him he had been baking in the sun for hours and was in respiratory failure. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. The moral: take your cell phone with you every time!! Don.

He went out at night in the winter and when her returned home alone, his power chair got stuck on the ice. They found him the next day frozen to death ........this was pre cell phone area. I still think about him from time to time. Ramapo college in New Jersey, where I studied music & theater for 3 years, was a FANTASTIC way for me to learn what I could and couldn't do for myself ..... Prior my family did everything for me. Living on campus with other people with different disabilities was quite eye-opening for me in soooooooo many ways. I ended up needing to transfer to Erie, PA to Edinbour University to get away from a physically abusive boyfriend that I ended up getting engaged to for 2 months. 1 1/2 years later I met my sweet Pete when I moved back in with my Mom but after 1 year I HAD to move out on my own ......... Next month I will be going on vacation to celebrate my grandpa's 90th birthday down in Tucson. That is where all my family is and I visit about every year or so. Medically I really can't complain about anything, with no skin issues that I'm having to deal with for the moment. The morning temperatures here in northern Indiana the last week has been down in the low 20s with daytime temperatures barely in the 40s. It is always so much fun to get my body to adjust for these temperatures and I'm the one choosing to say here in this cold climate. After being employed at target for over 17 years now in customer service you learn a little bit on how retailers rotate their inventory on a regular basis. The last couple Springtime I found some excellent deals on jackets at Sears at 70 to 80% off the regular retail price which have been keeping me warm and toasty at least for the top half of me.
