Greg,

I haven't used it myself, but I know many others with SCI who have benefited
greatly from medical marijuana. It is especially good for control of spasticity
and certain types of pain. As you indicated, there are different strains and
delivery systems for marijuana that can target your needs without necessarily
getting you high.

I'm really curious as to why your doctor will not sign off on it. What are
his/her objections?! It sounds to me like you may need to educate your doctor a
bit. Don't take 'no' for an answer--self advocate! I really can't think of a
legitimate argument your doctor could make that you couldn't refute with facts
and studies. If, like so many other times, it's a cost issue, let them know how
expensive hospital stays are if you spasm out of bed/chair.

My views on marijuana have changed along with society's. As someone said
earlier, I think we were fed a bunch of lies and hysteria regarding weed. I've
seen so many people benefit from it that I truly see it now as a natural
medicine just as aspirin and penicillin are.

Like any other medication, it can be abused, misused and be detrimental to
certain people, but that is no reason to eliminates its availability to others
who can see their lives improved by its medicinal properties.

Good luck, Greg.

Don.

I am thinking of trying it, but it costs about $500 to get your card.
My doc wont fill out the papers and my insurance wont cover a doc who will.
So it's an all private pay deal.
