500 keyboards aren't the greatest, but I haven't found them to be
intolerable.

You can remove the keyboard by taking out the few screws in the bottom of
the case.
Once you do that, you could run it through the dishwasher if you
want...although I wouldn't recommend it...but you can use water if you make
sure the KB is absolutely dry before reinstalling it.
You could use some compressed air on it too, without blasting the crud into
the computer.

Also be sure the KB is properly installed/seated. Some people don't put
things back together exactly as taken apart.
