I'm not sure that it matters that much. I haven't used HyperCard much since around the system 7.5 era so I don't know if there's any incompatibilities with more modern operating systems. I would guess that if you were using a pre-made stack, perhaps the best (or at least most authentic) setup would be a machine and OS from the same general time as the stack.
