THe Mc port expander is a great item.  But, you have to have the 
software. With one serial port as your designated modem, you only 
have the other serial port for one printer. WIth the expander you 
cand have as many as 6, I think.  THis means you can have several 
printers, and I am staring at three, and a scanner or something else. 
Pretty neat thing. I have it around here and used it at my office.  I 
will set it up again on one of my machines around here when I can 
start moving all these other machines out.  Sadly, I am resigned to 
sending much of my Mac stock to the car junk yard because my 
arthritic back won't let me lift monitors and computers any more. 
For one day of lifting, it takes two days of bed rest, heat, and 
medication to feel like working on computers again.
