Simply copy the first two or three words of the subject into your 
mail client's find, e.g., for this message (using Eudora) double 
click and hold on "Re", drag over "for", release, hit command-c, 
command-f, command-v, and command-g.  Less than 3 seconds and easier 
than scrolling down looking for a number in a subject line whose 
location varies from message to message, IMHO.   To find the next 
message in the thread just hit command-g.
