I have a problem with my beloved Q800 (OS8.0, 48mb RAM doubled, overloaded
with extensions/CPs) connected by thin-net to PowerCenter 150 PPC. Yeah, I
know I should upgrade to 8.1, but I'm retiring the Q800 soon, and don't have
the extra HD space for the upgrade right now...it's been working fine for
years on 8.0).

The ethernetting has always slowed down the Quadra considerably, not to
mention that it takes 15-20 minutes for file sharing to start up on all
volumes at startup, but I am happy with it til it retires. But lately, when
I try to switch applications(or maybe at other times), the Quadra hangs
up...cursor still moves, but can't do anything. The networked PPC also hangs
at the same time this happens, but when I restart the Quadra cold, the PPC
will start working again.

IIRC, I tried trashing finder prefs. Any other suggestions, or am I just in
too much of a hurry to do things with the Quadra in its slowed-down state?

Thanks,
Saul Broudy
