Hi there, I've got a Quadra 840AV that does exactly the same thing. If I wait long enough, it will eventually produce a grey screen and then boot (without the chime). The delay depends on how long it has been off but can be as much as fifteen minutes. Swapping power supplies (and PRAM batteries) made no difference. I've also tried removing RAM and disconnecting the SCSI chain (still no chime). I've even had mine in for service at an Apple dealer, with no success.
