Hello All,

I have a 660av that works brilliantly, till it freezes in several
unrelated programs and in several unrelated configurations of
software. The problem goes away with a clean install, but finds the
computer again after a few days of constant work. Found that trashing
the finder preference cures it temporarily till the next crash. It's
not critical but it is happening 3-4 times a day (at least it's
encouraging me to save ALL my work very regularly). Anyway the main
culprit programs are EndNote 3.1 and Word 6.0.1a, with guest
appearences by the cd player and some occasions when I backup with
disk copy. The common errors are type 2 and type 51 (the 51 by far
the most common).

System configuration, os 7.6.1, 68 mb ram, Quaddoubled to 50mhz.

Now I've read of a bug in the software up to OS 8.X that causes system
freezing when popup menues are used in combination (that woulf\d
explain the "esoteric" nature of the freezes). This is my last
avenue, have played with RAM add nauseum (Even installed RAM Charger
8.1 (Quite impressed with it actually)). I'm out of Ideas.

Basically, Has anyone heard of this bug?
Is there a patch to it, as the programs I'm using are essential?
Has anyone else had this problem and found a work around?
Can someone for the love of god tell me what a type 51 error IS (and
not just an "unservicable slot interrupt"!)
