Some versions of the DOS support software do have problems. Heck, some versions of the Mac support software have problems. In fact, the DOS on a Mac product (Reply, but actually designed entirely by Apple) cannot see the CD-ROM if it is a 600i, but can if it is a 300i ... a known limitation for which Reply (or Apple) didn't fix, but instead included a third-party CD-ROM driver for the Mac side. Problem solved for the DOS side. The DOS Compatibility card for the Q650 and similar '040 PDS machines is pretty clean ... the PC Compatibility Card for PCI Power Macs is squeaky clean. Any other DOS/PC compatibility card had (and still has) unresolved functional flaws. I use PC Compatibility cards in my Beige machines. I use pcSetup 2.1.7f (now free, if you can find their site). A flawless implementation of Windows 95, and runs DOS very well, too. More reliably than my real-deal Pentium 166/MMX, which is where my (PAL, GAL, EPROM, EEPROM, etcetera) Universal Device Programmer resides. I have that machine because the device programmer requires a proprietary ISA Bus interface card. -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
