This isn't really an answer to your question, but I did successfully transplant a full 040 from a Quadra 650 with dead SCSI to a Quadra 605. The 040 chip in the Q650 had a heat sink attached to it, whereas the Q605 didn't have one (being only a 680LC40). Luckily, the new 040 fit perfectly in the 605 case, heat sink and all, and the lid closes fine with a millimeter to spare! Runs perfectly with no problems.

Subject: Q700 CPU into LC 575?

Anyone taken a '040 CPU from a 25/50MHz Q700 and installed it onto a
33/66MHz LC 575 mobo?

Results?.... My experience so far has been a tad flakey :(

Anyone had OK-ish results? Wishfully hoping to hear I haven't made a
big boo boo. (but am brave enough to cope, otherwise) :)

Happy new Year all.
