  Also, I forgot to add... is if there is a difference between starting and 
stopping the daemon processes and rebooting the server, there must be some 
problem with the startup process, as functionally both a reboot, and a 
stop/start cycle should have the same result.  Generally that is a result of 
some sort of permission problem.  Possibly when you are manually starting the 
daemons, they are not running as the correct user.
