Midge problem is only on the west coast if you go east coast or the west
north of Oban you don't get any midges

Midges  a quick Google on midges +Scotland will enable you all to get up
to speed with the extent of the problem and precautions you can take
ranging from various forms of repellent to protective clothing. There is
even a daily and weekly Midge forecast
