Well, I had fun yesterday morning when a VW slid out of a side junction
in front of me, and ended up reshaping the bumper of my Mondeo.
(His fault entirely, nobody injured due to very low impact speed,
thankfully).
I now have a Mondeo TD with a very nice (if a tad oil leaky) Endura D
engine which is in imminent likelihood of being beyond economic repair.
(book value is about £750 tops, new bumper + fitting + paint could
easily come to £350ish).
Which begs the question....
How easy would it be to fit this engine/turbo/intercooler/etc into my
saloon?
I've been planning the Pug conversion for ages, but the driveshaft issue
is still an unknown and will remain so until I get the engine/shafts
out, by which time I'm committed to the project.
I know people have already managed the Mondeo TD mod so I'm not going to
be completely winging it.
I was told the Endura engine requires mods to the moulding, but exactly
what is involved? Just a hacksaw/holesaw, or actual laminating?
Anything else I need to watch out for?
Does anybody have any pics of such an installation?
Club insurance should mean the insurance costs remain the same, the only
downside is £180+ road tax instead of £120. I don't mind paying a pound
a week for the extra performance of an 1800TD over a 1500 non-turbo.
