The electric boot switch is great - when it works properly. Apart from attending to earthing problems and keeping the mechanical parts well greased it would be a good idea to cut an access hole in the panel that is used to line the tailgate so that if needs be you can operate the lock by hand (having first crawled into the boot). Something else to consider is do you want the boot switch to work only when the ignition circuit is live? The other thing to look at is the part of the locking mechanism which fits on the bumper. To be completely safe from intruders it should not be possible to loosen this while the tailgate is closed. You might want to consider whether you want complete safety or emergency access should the electric lock fail. With any form of electric locking system a good question to ask yourself is - how would I cope if I had a flat battery. If you have a simple mechanical bonnet latch you may not have a problem but if the system is more complicated or the battery is not in the engine compartment you might need to do something about it.
