The earlier master cylinder is bigger and will hit the distributor cap if the engine is also the later one. The earlier cars had ecu controlled ignition (later dropped) on which the distributor just had a pickup and the distributor cap so it was shorter.

If the bores of the cylinder are still good you can get seal only or seal and piston repair kits.
Even if there is light rust in the bores you can get away with honing them.
