I bit the bullet and have just invested in some Vibra Technics engine
mounts for the Xtreme. The reason was that on track days I was getting
25mm movement at the top of the engine during hard cornering causing some
fouling and the top pulley hitting a water pipe. It was this or somehow
put a lateral stabiliser on. I have just fitted them and am absolutely
amazed at the difference; The engine is rock solid, the vibations seem
better damped, but at this stage that might be just psychological, but
above all absolutely no knocks and bangs from the engine bay, which even on
the road I used to get as the engine is close to the body in places. The
final proof of the pudding will be at Barkston heath this weekend and
Curborough next.

I would love to know the engineering within the mount, but when I talked to
Vibra Technics at the Autosport show in january they were qquite tight
lipped, but did assure me that it would solve the problems whilst providing
better damping.
