Evening all. Xtreme's have bespoke uprights and I have heard other owners commenting on the bearings going tight when torqued up the the 'FT' setting of 310 to 350NM, and this is what happended to the nearside one the last time I had my bearings replaced at the garage up the road. They advised it loosen up quickly and it did, but it has only lasted a couple of years.
So having a close look at it, the land in the upright has suffered quite a bit of abuse from a thug with a blunt object... I fettled the upright with a file, oilstone and scraper before refitting the nice shiny SKF bearing set and the proof of the pudding today was that when torqued up to 'FT' spec, the wheel still spins easily. So... If you have an Xtreme and it throws wheel bearings, check the uprights for damage and correct before fitting the new bearings. I have put some photos up on the proboards forum.
