Crikey - hope they aren't after 15k miles! I think he was just trying for
something, as he only lowered it about 1mm!

My test centre has lines marked on the wall but I’ve never seen the tester
actually check the lights against them.
Knackered front shocks would lower the light height aswell.

  Hello Chris,
I found the steel on these screws rusts and they seize solid in the
plastic carrier piece (which is not now available). I replaced mine with
stainless steel screws and nuts, but great care is needed to remove the old
screws. My suggestion is to remove the complete headlight unit, carefully cut
the screws off level with the edge of the plastic (if that makes sense) and
remove the remainder by screwing out of the plastic in the other
direction....... Because rust increases the size of the screw any attempt to
unscrew it means the exposed screw breaks the plastic!
  Good luck, Martin
p.s. Strangely my saloon needed a bit of adjustment at the last MOT to the
left headlight, although no adjustment or bulb replacement has ever been made?
Maybe tyre pressure?

Subject: [Quantum Owners] 2+2 Headlights Positioned too Low - MOT Failure

    Hi.

So my car had failed its MOT as the front headlights are positioned too
low. They aren't even registering on the system they use to check.

Now, I don't know a lot about how it all works but I will try and describe
it the best I can.

On the back of the lights, are two screws, both lights have a screw at the
top-centre, the left light has a screw at the bottom-right and the right light
has a screw at the bottom-left.

Apparently these screws should be able to slightly adjust the position of
the light. When I turn them, nothing happens. I can physically move the light a
little bit in the upwards position but it isn't enough. I've applied WD-40 just
incase.

The guy at the MOT station said, as long as the screws actually do
something, that's fine, he'll be able to adjust the lights accordingly on the
system they use.

This is the only issue I have, once it's fixed, the car will pass the MOT!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.
