If they write it off they will give you the market value for it.
But as the accident wasn't your fault they probably won't even ask for the car, if they do you should be able to keep it for salvage value which they will deduct from the market value they give you.

Main thing is don't let them take car, much harder to get it back if it's already with the insurance company, and bits tend to go missing as well.

When my 205GTI was written off by somebody pulling out in front of it they didn't even ask for the car back.

Had someone scrape my Coupe’s paint in a car park and and trying to get it sorted out. It was a works van that admitted liability and got the insurance involved. Just got a letter saying it may be written off. (without inspection, so far) Don’t believe it as it’s only cosmetic damage. Nothing structural. I need to push back on this. Do you have advice?
