I suspected it wasn't injection but the cause can be completely different if it was.
The ignition relay in the fusebox is only for switching the power to auxilary ignition powered circuits such as the wipers, heater etc. It's so that the high currents for those items doesn't have to be supplied by the ignition switch contact. But the actual ignition coil power (and the carb fuel cut off) is feed directly from the ignition switch. That's assuming it's all still standard wiring. Grounding the wire between the coil and the tacho (i assume as a anti theft switch) is a bit of a no no with electronic ignition, you can damage the amplifier. It's better to break the power feed to the coil and amplifier. Somehow you must have enough power leaking into the ignition coil circuit to keep the coil running. Is it just the lights that keep the engine running or does anything else ignition powered have the same effect ? Do you have dim dip ?
