Derek,
I'd assume the method of shortening as per your 2+2 would have been the QSC recommended way. The cars were designed to be built without special tools, so welding parts wouldn't have been expected.

I might be wrong, so feel free to correct me.

Steve

Dear All,

To those interested. The following Aftermarket part:

This is modifiable. The two ends are plastic and clipped onto the metal rail. It comes with a plug and wire tails so you can renew the plug. (and fit the socket of the new motor, of course) It seems to need 20 mm shortening to fit the Coupe door, so a 20mm spacer fitting.

As an aside, my Coupe ford regulator seems to have been cut down by 20mm by being cut in the middle of the rail and welded back together and ground to shape. This brings the mounting brackets closer together. Was this the usual way when built?

I built my 2 + 2 new and it needs more shortening but basically you cut one end shorter. Mounting brackets stay in the same position.

ATB

Derek
